Trials have been set for three of the four people arrested in connection to a home invasion which sent a Nipawin man to hospital.

The break and enter into the man’s home on June 15, 2014 left him with life-threatening head injuries after he was assaulted with a weapon, the RCMP said at the time.

The accused attackers – Nathan Pelly of Nipawin, Magnus Kitchmonia of Kamsack, and William Bignell of Kamsack- are going to trial in 2016 at Melfort’s Court of Queen’s Bench.

In 2014, the RCMP alleged Pelly’s actions were the most severe out of the group of four people arrested for that attack.

He will be tried for charges of break and enter with intent to attempt murder and attempted murder.

According to the RCMP, the incident was in response to an earlier confrontation and alcohol was a factor.

Other people were in the home at the time, but no one else was injured.

The victim, who was 29 at the time of the attack, had to be airlifted to Saskatoon for surgery.

Bignell’s trial will address his charges of aggravated assault and breaking and entering with intent to use violence, and Kitchmonia will be tried for charges of breaking and entering with intent to use violence.

Pelly has elected to have a trial by judge and jury, while Kitchmonia and Bignell will be tried by judge alone.

Cynthia Kitchemonia has also been charged in the matter. She has a pretrial scheduled for July 27, 2015.

Magnus Kitchmonia’s trial is May 2 to May 6, 2016, Pelly’s is the following two weeks, and Bignell’s is after that.
