Police keep busy over long weekend

May 18, 2015 | 9:40 AM

Crime didn’t take any time off over the May long weekend.

An assault and a break and enter are a few of the calls Prince Albert police responded to.

On Saturday around 3 a.m. police were called to the 1500 block of 14th Street West for an assault with a weapon.

The victim, a homeowner in the area, was having an outdoor gathering when unwanted guests showed up.

When he confronted them he was sprayed with bear spray, police say.

Yet another reminder for people to lock their vehicles came after 7 a.m. on Saturday.

Police were called to a home in East Hill for complaints of a break and enter.

The suspect had found house keys in an unlocked vehicle, then went into the home to find the car keys.

Following that, the suspect stole the vehicle.

Police are investigating these incidents.

Overall police received 198 calls for service and made 38 arrests. Public intoxication is the cause for 18 of those arrests.
