Police catch vehicle thieves red-handed

Four teenage boys and one man, are facing charges after various items were stolen from unlocked vehicles Monday morning.

Just after 2a.m. police were called to Eagle Crescent in Prince Albert.

A teenage boy was observed trying to get into an SUV, according to Prince Albert Police Service. Upon seeing police, the boy tried to run but was caught soon after, carrying stolen items.

Two other teenage boys were arrested in connection to the same incident. The boys ranged in age from 15 to 17.

In a separate incident, police arrested a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man following thefts in the East Flat.

Police received a complaint around 5:47 a.m. that two males had attempted to break into a vehicle parked on the street in the 600 block of Eight Street East. The males took off on bikes before police arrived.

The suspects were soon located by police at Fourth Street and 11th Avenue East. They were both found to be in possession of stolen property, including the bikes they were riding.

In this case, the suspects had admitted to stealing from at least five vehicles.

The stolen bikes were returned to their rightful owners.

Police are reminding all vehicle owners to make sure their vehicles are locked at night.
