Mintos hand out year-end hardware; name vet Roberts team MVP

The Prince Albert Mintos and their parents, billets and volunteers gathered together for the last time this season at Carlton Park Hall for the team’s awards banquet.

At the Saturday event, the Mintos made mention of the three notable absences – Reed Gunville, Derrick Hucul and Drake Teer – who won gold at the National Aboriginal Hockey Tournament earlier on Saturday in Halifax.

Hucul, the team’s goaltender, also won the team’s Most Valuable Player award for the playoffs.

Not listed in the award’s list is assistant captain Kody White, who was awarded an extra jersey for his three years of service with the Mintos. White later presented that jersey to his billets, the Buhler’s who are retiring from billeting after this season.
