Apr 12, 2015 | 9:34 AM

Investigators are still trying to piece together what happened to a CN worker who was killed on the job Thursday night near Saskatoon.

MD Ambulance was called to the CN Chappell Yards, located on the west edge of the city around 11:30 p.m. for a man with life threatening injuries. He later died in hospital.

A CN spokesperson confirmed the employee was fatally injured in an accident while working at the rail yard located behind the Montgomery Place neighbourhood.

The Teamsters Union, which represents Canadian National (CN) conductors, identified the employee in a news release as Kevin Timmerman.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the conductor who died in this tragic accident,” Teamsters Canada Rail Conference Vice President, Roland Hackl said.

Timmerman, 51, was a conductor from Melville and been with CN for close to 29 years.

A team from the Transportation Safety Board is handling the investigation.
