Impaired driver causes five car pile up in Saskatoon

One man is in custody for impaired driving after five people, including himself, were taken to hospital following a five vehicle pile-up just past midnight.

Around 12:25 a.m. – early Saturday morning – police were called to the intersection of 22nd Street and Avenue P after an impaired driver slammed into the rear of another car stopped at a red light. 

The crash set off a chain reaction, involving three more cars, for a total of five. 

The car of the impaired man ended up on its roof. Three other people were pinned in the car he slammed into and had to be rescued by fire crews and the Jaws of Life.
