Movie Reviews for March 2nd

Mar 2, 2015 | 8:03 AM

Focus: Albeit a bit slow and predictable, this movie will seduce you with its cast and plot.  Will Smith, who plays a veteran con-man, has not lost his step as one of Hollywood’s best leading men. His character is a master of misdirection and is always working on his next job.  Margot Robbie (Wolf of Wall Street), who plays Smith’s young apprentice, is as talented as she is beautiful.  Surprise, surprise; there is a love affair between the two characters.   Another acting credit needs to go to Gerald McRaney, who some people will remember from TV’s Major Dad or Simon and Simon.

3.5/5

Fifty Shades of Grey:  It’s true what they say. The movie is almost never as good as the book.  Fifty shades of “I want my money back”, is the perfect example.  Rather than hot and steamy, most of the sex scenes appear clumsy and humorous.  The only thing entertaining about my experience was listening to the giggling from the female members of the audience.  The only way I would sit through this movie again would be if I was tied up and blind folded.
