According to the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region, there are more than 300 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in Prince Albert.

On Saturday, the Pineview Terrace long-term care facility joined that number thanks to a donation from Kelly and Janine Straf and family.

Doug Dahl, communications officer with Prince Albert Parkland Health Region (PAPHR) and Lyle Karasiuk the director of public affairs with Parkland Ambulance, were very appreciative of the family’s contribution of live-saving equipment. Kelly Straf said he knows just how important the machines are.

“I’ve worked in EMS [Emergency Medical Services] for 20 years, and I’ve seen the benefits of having an AED available at community locations,” Straf said in a statement released by PAPHR. “My wife works at Pineview, and we thought this would be a good location given the number of residents, staff, volunteers and visitors that can be there at any one time.”
