Gordie Howe lands in snowy Saskatoon

It was a dark and snowy arrival for Gordie Howe in Saskatoon.

The plane that brought Gordie Howe home landed at 10:30 p.m. Thursday at Kreos Aviation, a private hangar near the Saskatoon airport.

His arrival was delayed by more than eight hours after mechanical issues in Texas.

In near blizzard conditions, Howe was helped down the stairs and escorted to a black limo bus. A walker was folded and stored away in the back.

Several media who had hoped to hear from a member of the Howe family were disappointed when Mr. Hockey rolled away without comment.

A few hours before Howe’s arrival, Wayne Gretzky and Bobby Hull landed in Saskatoon. Both will be at the Kinsmen Sports Celebrity Dinner Friday night at TCU Place. Gretzky is the keynote speaker.

The dinner begins at 5 p.m.
