Possible threats made to Sask. school
A 27-year-old man is under arrest in connection to a threat that forced Central Butte School to keep students locked inside for most of the day.
Darby Briggs with Prairie South School Division said the RCMP alerted the school to a potential threat at 11:20 a.m. The school initiated what they call a hold and secure safety protocol, which means the doors were locked and no one was allowed to leave, but students and staff members were still able to carry on with classes normally.
People in the town reported seeing police officers block off one street and a back alley for several hours. RCMP officers from the Outlook detachment arrested the suspect at a home in Central Butte shortly before 3:30 p.m.
The school let students out at the normal time but asked parents to pick up kids who would normally walk home. Bus students were escorted to buses and dropped off at their normal stops.
