Jagger catches another criminal

Local-famed police dog Jagger can add another notch to his doggy dish.

On Friday night Prince Albert police were called to an industrial compound in the 3900 block of Fifth Avenue East where a vehicle had been stolen.

Officers quickly located the vehicle and attempted to pull the driver over, however the suspect had other ideas and left the city heading north across the bridge towards Hazeldell.

The driver then stopped the vehicle near Hazeldell hall and took off on foot.

Police called in Jagger, and the furry, four-legged officer made quick work of locating the suspect, a teenage boy.

The boy is now in custody and faces charges of breaking and entering, theft of a vehicle and failing to stop for police. He will appear in court on Monday. 

Car collides with building

It was car versus apartment complex after a vehicle struck the building head-on on Saturday night.

Police were called to the scene of the accident in the 1400 block of 28th Street East, where they discovered an abandoned grey Mazda 6.

The suspects had apparently fled on foot before police arrived, and officers were unable to locate them.

The vehicle has been seized to assist in the investigation and officials said the collision caused significant structural damage to the building.

No one was in the suite where the car hit at the time of the accident.

Paramedics respond to out-of-city accidents

On the emergency response side of things, Parkland Ambulance paramedics had a few trips outside of the city this weekend.

On Saturday around 10 a.m. paramedics were called to an accident on Highway 3 near Holbein, however there were no injuries reported on scene.

Later that day paramedics travelled just outside the city on Highway 2 to Red Wing close to 7 p.m. where a vehicle had reportedly struck an animal.

A 26-year-old woman who was driving was not injured in that incident either.
