Search on for Canada’s national bird

Jan 23, 2015 | 3:09 PM

We have a national anthem, the beaver is our national animal and hockey and lacrosse are our national sports, but it turns out Canada doesn’t have a national bird.

The Royal Canadian Geographical Society wants Canadians to vote online to choose one.

Then the society will take the top suggestion to the federal government and hope the idea takes flight in time for Canada’s 150th birthday in 2017.

So far, the top three birds in the running are the common loon, snowy owl and Canada goose.
