Using Drama to Heal History’s Wounds
During the week long Reconciliation and Healing through Arts and Culture program, Paul Daigneault and Kurtis McAdam educated people of all ages and cultures on the history of First Nations’ family and culture breakdown and regeneration.
The presentations, which were given to full houses from Monday to Saturday at the Prince Albert Arts Centre, focussed on creating a sense of empathy and understanding in descriptions of the breakdown of culture, but also used humor and drama in story telling using fun-filled antics with the stories of Wesahkecahk, using audience participation. Wesahkecahk is an spiritual entity that is an important part of First Nations culture and storytelling.
Supported by Prince Albert Grand Council Health and MBC Radio, Daigneault and McAdam have wrapped up this session but are open to bringing their presentation to the community.
