Our popular Little Tykes TrainHARD program is expanding to meet demand! For 2015, there will be three age groups – age 4 &5, age 6 & 7, and age 8 & 9. Capacity is doubling to a maximum of 40 participants per group. Little Tykes TrainHARD uses non-competitive play and games to emphasize basic football skills such as passing, receiving, and running. Sessions wil take place every Saturday from May 9th to June 13th at John Diefenbaker School Field. Sessions for each age group last a maximum of 45 minutes. Registration fee is just $30.00. Go to www.pariverriders.com and register your child today! Space is limited, and will fill up quickly. After just one day of our online registration forms being available, one of the groups is already 1/4 full!
NEW for 2015, we will be offering an outdoor flag football program for children aged 8 to 10 in May and June. It will be very similar to our indoor flag program (which we are also continuing in 2015), just played outside, where football should be played! There will be one or two seesions per week, on the field between Crescent Heights Arena and Diefenbaker School. Football or soccer style cleats are recommended for better traction on the grass. Further details TBA.
Also new for 2015, in partnership with Football Saskatchewan, SaskTel, the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and our local public and Catholic elementary schools, P. A. Minor Football will host a Pass, Punt, & Kick Competition for ages 9 to 14. It will take place on Saturday, October 3rd from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on the field next to Crescent Heights Arena. It’s FREE to enter, and your child could win tickets to the last Rider home game of the 2015 regular season!
The Pass, Punt & Kick Competition has promoted basic football skills for over 40 years across the province. It is an optional activity for elementary schools. The Pass, Punt & Kick Competition hosted by P. A. Minor Football is intended for kids who wish to participate, but attend schools which have opted not to have their own competition. Winners from the school competitions and the P. A. Minor Football competition advance to the regional final, which will take place on October 17th, also at Crescent Heights Arena field. The winners of the regional final then advance to the Provincial final in Saskatoon on October 24th. Eighteen provincial winners (9 boys and 9 girls) will be invited to Regina, expenses paid, to be presented with plaques at the final Saskatchewan Roughriders 2015 home game, on November 7th!
