Police say liquor act charges laid after Art Hauser Centre incident

Jan 19, 2015 | 3:27 PM

The Prince Albert Police Service has laid two charges in connection to an alleged incident that occurred at the Art Hauser Centre on Dec. 21.

The charges fall under the Alcohol Gaming and Regulation Act, and strictly relate to the liquor permit. Sgt. Brandon Mudry said the charges were laid against the permit holders for the dance.

The permitees have been charged with: consuming alcohol on a premises when alcoholic beverage has not been sold or served by the permitted, as well as remaining on the permitted premises after being asked to leave.

The City of Prince Albert issued a statement on Friday, alleging that during a dance held by a local recreational league hockey team, the Prince Albert Crown Royals, a City worker was assaulted and some property in the Ches Leach Lounge was damaged.

No charges have been laid with respect to the alleged assault against a City employee. According to Mudry, that allegation is still under investigation.

Police do not have any information with regards to a suspect description.

The City of Prince Albert is also conducting its own investigation internally.

Police search for vehicle tied to business break-in

The Prince Albert Police Service is asking for the public’s help as it looks for a car that is connected to a break-in that occurred at a business on Sunday.

Police went to a business in the unit block of 13th Street East after receiving an alarm call at around 1:06 a.m. When they arrived, officers found that a lock on a storage container had been cut. The container was located behind the business.

No items were taken. Officers called in the K9 unit for assistance.

Through its investigation, police have issued a description of what they are calling a “vehicle of interest.”

The vehicle is described as a grey, early 2000s model Toyota Echo, or a similar make and model. The vehicle also has a large RDS sticker in its rear window.

“The RDS sticker takes up most of the back window of the vehicle, so it’s unique in that sense,” said Sgt. Brandon Mudry, with the Prince Albert Police Service.

“I would further just [ask] members of the public that if they do see this vehicle, just to contact us [with] the information,” he added.

It’s one of two break-ins that occurred over the weekend.

Police are also investigating a break and enter that occurred in the 100 block of 17th Street West. Police went to the scene at 8:20 a.m. on Monday morning.

Over the weekend, suspects entered the fenced compound of the business. The suspects then forced their way into a storage building and into the two vehicles parked inside.

So far, a generator and tools are known to have been stolen.

The break-ins were the two incidents of note during an otherwise steady weekend. The police received 237 calls for service, making 56 arrests and 23 of those were for public intoxication.
