Sask. Hockey Hall of Fame welcomes 12 new members
The Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame will soon have 12 new members.
The 2015 inductees were announced Saturday night at SaskTel Centre during the game between Saskatoon Blades and Kootenay Ice.
Wendel Clark, who starred for the Blades in the mid 80s and went on to play 15 years in the NHL, is among four players entering the hall.
Clark played two dominant years for the Blades before he was taken first overall in the 1985 NHL draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
He said he has fond memories playing for the Blades at the “old barn” against provincial rivals the Prince Albert Raiders and Regina Pats.
“It was a small version of rivalries that you see in the NHL when you see those junior teams go at it; city versus city. Those were fun games to play in when the building was jammed,” he said.
Clark said he owes a lot of his hockey success to the Blades organization.
