Prince Albert’s last hope to advance to the Provincial Men’s Curling championships fell one win short. Doug Phelps lost 9-4 to Sutherland’s Micheal Carss in one of two ‘C’ event finals Sunday afternoon at the Northern Men’s Championships at the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club.

Carrs took control of the game in the second end scoring 4 and the teams shook hands after Carss made a draw for 3 in the 9th. Phelps stayed alive in the 8th counting a single with a tremendous draw but got into trouble in the 9th.

Jeff Hartung of Langenburg beat Sutherland’s Darren Camm 5-2 in the other ‘C’ final after losing 6-3 to Unity’s Drew Heidt in a ‘B’ final and fell 9-8 in an extra end to Terry Marteniuk of Yorkton in Saturday’s ‘A’ final.

Joining Marteniuk, Hartung, Heidt, and Carss at the provincials from the Northernsl is Dale Craig of Saskatoon Nutana who beat Carss 6-5 in the other ‘B’ final.
