La Loche RCMP investigate shooting

RCMP in La Loche are investigating an incident where a man was shot at a home just outside the community.  

The incident happened just south of La Loche at a residence on Jan. 16 around 4:30 p.m., and the 46-year-old victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to officials. 

RCMP, soon after, arrested a 19-year-old man who was related to the victim and had fled the scene of the shooting shorlty before police arrived. 

Because of the relationship between the victim and the shooter RCMP believe the shooting incident was not random. 

The suspect remains in custody and the victim has since been released from hosptial.

Charges are pending while La Loche RCMP continues to investigate along with the assistance of the Major Crimes Unit out of Saskatoon and the Forensic Identification Unit from North Battleford.
