Greg Quick named Riders defensive coordinator

Jan 12, 2015 | 1:31 PM

The Riders will officially have a new mind behind their defence in 2015.

Greg Quick has been announced as the team’s new defensive coordinator, ending a fairly long search to fill the position.

The job originally opened up earlier in the off-season when general manager Brendan Taman hinted that Richie Hall would not return as the team’s defensive coordinator in 2015, something head coach Corey Chamblin would later announce officially. Hall was offered another job in the organization but many reports have linked him to signing on to the same job with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Quick comes to the Riders after spending the last two seasons as the linebackers coach in Montreal. Quick spent the 2012 season as the offensive coordinator at Northwood University. Before that he was the Argos linebackers coach in 2010 and 2011.
