Employment slips in Prince Albert

There are fewer people in Prince Albert collecting a paycheque.

According to Statistics Canada, the unemployment rate grew by seven per cent from December 2013 to December 2014. 

There were roughly 2,000 fewer people in the city collecting a paycheque.

The figure for the Northern region is a bit more optimistic.

The unemployment rate dropped from 4.7 to 4.3 per cent.

The number of people working increased by 2,000.

Saskatchewan as a whole boasts the lowest unemployment rate in the country at 3.6 per cent.

The national unemployment was 6.6 per cent in December.
