Jan 5, 2015 | 11:53 AM

Saskatchewan’s Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is getting out of the law enforcement business.

In a media release, the province announced that the organization has opted not to renew its contract to enforce the Protection of Animals Act on behalf of the government.

The SPCA had been in charge of enforcing the act for about the last 40 years.

The release states that the SPCA board decided to focus the organization’s rescources on education and prevention efforts.
