Victim ID’d, suspect arrested in Pelican Narrows sudden death

Pelican Narrows RCMP have released new details on the sudden death of a man in the community.

Blaine Charles, 22, has been charged with second degree murder in the death of 38-year-old Wilfred Brent Sewap.

Sewap was brought into the Angelique Canada Health Centre on Tuesday morning and was unresponsive, according to officials.

He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Officers arrested Charles afterwards in connection to the death of Sewap.

According to officials the two were known to each other.

The RCMP did not provide details on the nature of the death.

They are stating there was an altercation on Pelican Narrows First Nation before Sewap was brought into the health centre.

Charles will make his first court appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Friday at 9:30 a.m.

An autopsy is scheduled for Sewap at Saskatoon City Hospital on Friday as well.
