Humboldt man wins $1M Lotto 6/49 draw

A Humboldt man waited two months before claiming his $1 million Lotto 6/49 prize, just to ensure nothing got in the way of his daughter’s wedding.

“… I didn’t’ want to take away any of the attention,” Ken Frank said in a statement.

He bought the winning ticket for the Oct. 15 draw from a Shoppers Drug Mart store and checked his ticket against the winning numbers online. Not only did he win a free play with the numbers he chose in the main draw, but he won $1 million in the guaranteed prize draw selection.

Frank stored the ticket under a writing pad on his desk. He said he planned to surprise his wife over a pre-Christmas dinner.

“It wasn’t meant to stay a secret forever,” he said in the statement.

On Tuesday afternoon, Saskatchewan Lotteries announced Frank’s win.

Frank is now looking to invest in travel and home renovations and he said he’s always wanted to restore a vehicle.

The statement said he is respectfully declining media interviews.
