Massive trampoline park first for Saskatoon

Dec 14, 2014 | 3:31 PM

It may be December, but it’s spring time at Apex Trampoline Park.

The new Saskatoon sports center, located in the far north end of the city, features 10,000 square feet of floor and wall trampolines for a variety of sports including basketball, dodge ball and dry land snowboarding and wakeboarding.

“Who doesn’t like fun exercise?” co-owner Armand Konecsni-Luzny said. “It’s so much fun yet you don’t realize how much a workout you’re getting. You’ll be for five, ten minutes going hard and then all of the sudden you realize you’re bagged.”

The centre is the first of its kind in Saskatoon. Konecsni-Luzny, 23, said he used to work for a trampoline manufacturer in Regina then visited a similar park in the United States before deciding to start his own at home.

Konecsni-Luzny said the commercial-grade trampolines will hold everyone from toddlers to full grown football players and are padded for safety.

“In this park you should never see a spring (or) a frame structure; everything should be totally padded up,” he said, adding a lot of research went into safety equipment.

At least one staff member per shift is trained in first aid.

Konecsni-Luzny said they hope to introduce competitive sports, fitness classes and toddler play times in the New Year.

The facility held a soft-launch event on Sunday and will host their grand opening this week.
