Raiders D Warner to miss rest of season

Dec 8, 2014 | 10:28 AM

Prince Albert Raiders defenceman Hunter Warner has been shut down for the rest of the season.

After extensive tests by the Minnesota Wild medical staff, the 19-year-old Warner will need surgery to repair a significant upper body injury, thus ending his season with the Raiders.

Warner missed the last four games with the Raiders and last played on Nov. 26 against the Calgary Hitmen.

The Wild own Warner’s NHL rights after signing him as an undrafted free-agent this spring.

Warner signed with the Raiders on Aug. 6, and had three assists and 25 penalty minutes in 24 games this season.

Along with Warner, fellow Raider defenceman Sawyer Lange will also miss a considerable amount of time with an upper body injury.

Raiders general manager Bruno Campese has supplemented his defensive core as a result, adding 19-year-old Raymond Grewal on Dec. 6 and 20-year-old Colton Heffley (who can play both defence and forward) on Dec. 2.
