Firefighters and Police Donate Per Tweet

Dec 4, 2014 | 8:27 AM

The Victoria Hospital Foundation has paired up with the Prince Albert Fire Department to raise funds for their 9th annual Give a Little Life campaign this week through a Twitter
campaign. The Prince Albert Police Service is matching the donation.

For each “tweet” or “retweet” of the hashtag #HelptheVic14, the Prince Albert Fire Department has committed to donating $1 up to a maximum of $2000, which will be matched by PA Police.

Not only does this contribute to raising money for the ‘littlest patients’, it fosters awareness of the The Victoria Hospital Foundation in the community. The Foundation has only recently entered the realm of social media and plans to establish more of an online presence in the health region.

The 9th annual Give A Little Life Day will aim to raise a total of $400,000 for the Victoria Regional Hospital’s nursery and pediatric units.

“The nursery and pediatric wards are two of the most precious parts of any hospital. This year, we are making a big ask of the community to help us replace and upgrade vital equipment that will help sick children and newborn babies in our hospital. Critical equipment like vital signs monitors, incubators, oxygen systems and fetal monitors are just a few items we need. These little ones deserve the best start in life. With the help of the community, it’s our goal to make sure they have what they need.”

Sherry Buckler, Executive Director, Victoria Hospital Foundation The Victoria Regional Hospital delivers over 1500 babies a year and over 1000 sick children are admitted to pediatrics  annually.

The annual Give a Little Life radio-a-thon is scheduled for Friday, December 5, 2014 from 6 am – 6 pm on all three Rawlco radio stations. If you have an idea for a Give a Little Life fundraiser, please contact the Victoria Hospital Foundation.
