Prince Albert Raiders team captain Josh Morrissey has been named one of 29 players invited to attend Canada’s National Junior Team Sport Chek Selection Camp.

The announcement was made Monday morning, with the training camp set for Dec. 11 at the MasterCard Centre for Hockey Excellence in Toronto.

Among the invited players are two goaltenders, 10 defencemen and 17 forwards. Of those, 14 are from the WHL.  Morrissey, Nic Petan of the Portland Winterhawks and Sam Reinhart of Kootenay ICE will all return to the camp after representing Canada at the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship in Malmö, Sweden.

“This is a special IIHF World Junior Championship, and the opportunity to play at home in front of Canadian fans should make for a very competitive selection camp,” said Scott Salmond, vice-president of hockey operations and national teams with Hockey Canada in a statement on the WHL website.

“We’re looking forward to getting the camp underway, and selecting 22 players who will make Canada proud with the performance this holiday season. I also want to say a huge thank you to Ryan Jankowski, Bruce Hamilton, and the rest of the Program of Excellence management group for their time, their passion and their wisdom.”

Canada opens the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship in Montreal on Dec.26 against.
