Prince Albert highways looking clearer than Friday

Nov 29, 2014 | 9:12 AM

Highways around Prince Albert are looking clearer today then they were during Friday’s major snowfall.

According to Environment Canada data collected from the Prince Albert Airport, Prince Albert received just over 10 centimeters (cm) of snow on Friday.

Elizabeth Fiessel with Highway Hotline said that this means highways around Prince Albert are a little tricky.

“Around Prince Albert is mostly [icy and slippery] with reduced visibility,” said Fiessel.

This may continue throughout the day as, according to Environment Canada, the wind is expected to continue blowing between 15-20 kilometers (km) per hour into the night.

If you’re traveling to Saskatoon today, the driving conditions should improve after passing MacDowall.

“Highway 11 into Saskatoon is all good winter driving,” said Fiessel.

She adds that other highways should show some improvement once the snow plows are finished their work.

“The plows are out working right now,” said Fiessel.

In Prince Albert snow plows are working on clearing the main arterial roads like 15th Street.
