Woman charged after barging through Saskatoon airport security gate

Nov 26, 2014 | 3:47 PM

A woman charged with mischief won’t say why she crashed through a security gate at the Saskatoon airport without a boarding pass.

The 32 year old made her first appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Monday.

Her two mischief charges stem from an incident at the John G. Diefenbaker Airport on Sunday when she ran through a security gate and demanded to be put on a plane. She did not have a boarding pass and broke a card scanner on the wall when security staff told her to leave, court heard.

When the judge asked her if she was at the airport to catch a flight or pick someone up, she said no.

Crown prosecutor Matthew Miazga called her behavior “very erratic.”

The woman remains in custody for a psychological assessment. She will be back in court on Thursday.
