PAFD hits up Twitter to help Give A Little Life campaign

A Twitter campaign taken on by the Prince Albert Fire Department (PAFD) aims to help the nursery and pediatric wards in the Victoria Hospital.

The PAFD partnered with the Victoria Hospital Foundation to help raised funds for its 9th annual Give A Little Life campaign.

For each tweet or retweet with the hashtag #HelptheVic14, the PAFD will donate $1 up to a maximum of $2,000.

The Foundation said in a statement “Not only does this contribute to raising money for the ‘littlest patients’, it fosters awareness of the Victoria Hospital Foundation in the community. The Foundation has only recently entered the realm of social media and plans to establish more of an online presence in the health region.”

The hospital accommodates deliveries of more than 1,500 babies a year. Also, more than 1,000 sick children are admitted to the pediatric units annually, according to the Foundation.

The Give A Little Life radio-a-thon will take place Dec. 5 from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. on all Prince Albert Rawlco radio stations.

The Foundation hopes the campaign will raise $400,000 for these units.

“The nursery and pediatric wards are two of the most precious parts of any hospital. This year, we are making a big ask of the community to help us replace and upgrade vital equipment that will help sick
children and newborn babies in our hospital. Critical equipment like vital signs monitors, incubators, oxygen systems and fetal monitors are just a few items we need. These little ones deserve the best start in life. With the help of the community, it’s our goal to make sure they have what they need,” stated executive director Sherry Buckler in a statement.
