A man accused of kidnapping and attempting to murder a family member by stabbing her is pleading not guilty.

Kevin Henderson, 31, requested a trial by judge in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Tuesday. He will face trial in Montreal Lake, on his home reserve of Montreal Lake First Nation. This is also where the charges originate from.

He was charged after the early July disappearance of Marina Henderson, 66, who family have confirmed to be Kevin’s aunt. Her vehicle was also stolen.

Kevin was arrested days after police began searching for him. Shantal Mike, 26, faces charges related to the kidnapping and received bail during the summer.
