Carlton Girls bring home bronze in soccer

Oct 27, 2014 | 7:05 AM

It was a tough weekend for the Carlton Girls Soccer team, but one that still lead them to a third consecutive medal in provincials.

The girls started out strong on Friday while playing Swift Current in the morning and winning 1-0.

This was thanks to Shayna IInisky securing the shutout in the net, and the one goal scored by Madyson Burgess.

However when they faced St. Joe’s in the afternoon, the team that eventually won gold in the tournament, they put up a good fight but were not able to pull off a win, losing 2-1.

Emma Manson scored off a pass by Payton Izsak for their lone goal in that match.

This sealed the girl’s fate to play for bronze in their final game on Saturday.

They faced Regina Campbell and brought their A-game with Brielle Lafontaine scoring two goals to lead the team to a 2-1 win over Regina Campbell and securing their bronze medal.

The Girls Soccer Provincial tournament was held in Saskatoon.
