- The Flu is responsible for an estimated 12,200 hospitalizations and at least 3,500 deaths each year. The Flu can affect everyone, including those who are healthy.
- Flu is very contagious and spreads quickly and easily. Before you even know that you are sick you can pass the flu to others who may be at risk of serious complications.
- You can protect yourself from this serious illness by washing your hands frequently, cough/sneeze into your sleeve, stay home if unwell and get your flu vaccine!
- The influenza virus changes each year—you need to get a new flu vaccine each year to be protected. The influenza vaccine is available and free of charge to everyone over 6 months. Get it early, as it takes one to three weeks from the time you get your vaccine before your body is fully protected.
