Carlton Crusaders ready for playoffs

Oct 23, 2014 | 7:34 AM

The Carlton Crusaders senior football team has fought their way into the playoffs.

They will have a rematch against the St. Joseph Guardians, the team they lost to last week 29-0.

“The playoffs show how much heart each player has, it’ll show in practice and preparation. The past doesn’t matter; you start the playoffs with zero wins, and zero losses. It depends when a team peaks and I feel we have the men and the heart to compete with any team,” said senior linebacker and slotback Ryland Gibb.

The playoff game will take place this Friday at SMF Field in Saskatoon at 5:15 p.m.

“I expect that we’re going to show them what this team is really made of, and play our hearts out for the seniors on our team,” said Grade 10 rookie linebacker Carson Kristensen.

The game will be a bit more personal for Crusaders head coach Rylan Michalchuk.  Michalchuk’s brother is the assistant coach for the Guardians.

“It’s fun because we get to talk trash to each other before and after the game. It’s just nice to be able see him on the sidelines working with a group of kids the same way I get to,” said Michalchuk.
