Cooke golf course reopens for weekend

Oct 19, 2014 | 8:15 AM

It’s good news for golf fans as Cooke Municipal Golf Course in Prince Albert reopens for the weekend.

“The forecast looked good and there’s people still wanting to play golf,” said Darcy Myers, head golf professional.” We thought there’s no use holding them back, so we just thought we’d reopen the doors.”

Typically, the golf course stays open until Thanksgiving weekend and closes down after that. Myers said this is the last chance for golfers to play a couple more rounds.

“This will be it, we will be closing after the weekend for sure so we can get our preparation done for winter,” He said.

Golf fans are happy the course is reopening since the weather seems to be cooperating.

“I think it’s really great. It gives the members and the public an opportunity to play while the weather’s going to be nice for a while,” said Maggie Berezowsky.

“It’s kind of a bonus round this late in the season,” said Ian Harnett. “It’s kinda nice to be able to golf for a few more days since the weather’s nice.”

Myers is expecting a busy last weekend.
