Oct 18, 2014 | 3:44 PM

For the first time this season, the Prince Albert Mintos saw up close just how good the Notre Dame Hounds side is this year.

The Hounds beat the Mintos 8-2 Saturday at the Art Hauser Centre, to improve their record to 4-0 and are one of two undefeated teams left in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League.

The Hounds are now outscoring their opponents 24-2 through four games this year. That lone goal against came off the stick of Reed Gunville in the second period, ending a 218:33 scoreless streak to start the year. Erik Gardiner also scored late in the game for the Mintos to make it an 8-2 score.

The game was 1-0 after the first until the Hounds scored five goals in the second to open the game up. Ethan Crossman led the way for the visitors with a goal and two assists.

Jeremy McKenna, Conor MacLean and Nolan Reid, who started the year with the Saskatoon Blades, all had a goal and an assist in the game.

Looking ahead

The Mintos play the Regina Pat Canadians on Sunday at the Art Hauser Centre, with the puck dropping at 1:30 p.m. They’ll travel to the Battlefords to take on the Stars on Thursday, then enjoy a three-game homestand hosting the Yorkton Maulers Oct. 25, the Swift Current Legionnaires Oct. 26 and the Notre Dame Argos Nov. 2.
