On Saturday November 8th a fundraising event will be held in the Rivier Academy Auditorium to raise money for two important projects. This fundraiser is entitled, “A night on Broadway- A Local and Abroad Fundraiser.” It will feature local singers such as; Megan Fournier, Michelle McKeaveney, Lauren Campbell Lohneis, Kayleigh Skomorowski, Madelyn Perkins, Rivier Academy Chamber Choir, Brenna Feher, Emma Eaton and Michael Derowiz . Accompanied by Paula Fournier
The two projects are as follows:
Two years ago in Huasquicha, Peru the Sisters of the Presentation were invited to administer and teach in the school . This is a very poor and remote area of the country. This particular school has 230 students ranging from ages 3-14. It urgently needs a clean up of large depris and relandscaping of their school yard which is unsafe for the children. This work requires large, heavy machinery and is very expensive. The school’s needs also extend to the reparation of windows and the construction of a fence around the perimeter of the yard, to keep animals out and small children in. Providing furnishings such as desks, chairs, office furniture, and computer is also part of our goal.
The other benefactor is a local charity which assists local families travelling for medical issues. The Pj Party fundraiser has been an annual event for 4 years and has donated over $15 OOO already to local families and the Graves Disease Research Fund. They have chosen 4 year old Arabella Carter and her family to also benefit from the funds from the Pj Party fundraisers. Arabella is hoping to have a specialized surgery in the USA to improve her condition. She was born with Microtia. This family is very deserving of our support.
