Explosion at natural gas station forces evacuations east of Saskatoon
A fire and explosion at a TransGas natural gas storage facility near Prud’homme has forced emergency crews to evacuate people from the area.
TransGas spokesperson Dave Burdeniuk said the fire started at 10:10 a.m. when gas released from the wellhead of one of the underground storage caverns was sparked off.
Luckily, the facility is typically unmanned on the weekends, and nobody appears to be injured.
Members of the Prud’homme and Vonda fire departments are currently one scene putting out the fire, which is contained at the site.
