Best Teacher K-12: Mrs. Pawliw

Kristen Pawliw a Grade 1 and 2 teacher at Princess Margaret School in Prince Albert is considered by her colleagues as a warm and caring teacher that always has the best in mind for her students.

paNOW reader’s agree and  recently voted Mrs. Pawliw as Prince Albert’s Best K-12 Teacher for paNOW’s Best of the Best 2014.

Pawliw who has worked within the Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division (SRPSD) for approximately eight years was shocked, but honoured, when she first heard the news of her Best of the Best win. She said what she enjoys most about teaching is, of course, the kids.

“I think a great part about being a Grade 1 and 2 teacher is the enthusiasm the kids have.  They are excited to come to school everyday,” she said.

“I believe that teaching is the most rewarding profession. It is fantastic to be part of engaging learning experiences every day.”

Pawliw said she has known since a young age she wanted to become a teacher. 

“My mom was a kindergarten teacher with the Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division for many years and so I would have to say that I have known that I wanted to be a teacher for a very long time; as long as long as I can remember,” she said.

“I love kids and I have really always just wanted to be a part of education,” she added.

Principal Kent Arpin agrees the Best of the Best win is a huge honour for Mrs. Pawliw, especially if you consider the number of teachers that work within the school division and Prince Albert as a whole.

“We are fortunate to have her here because she is very knowledgeable,” Arpin said.

“She does a good job; she makes sure the kids feel warm and welcome every day when they walk through the door and she makes sure that the parents are informed. She just has the best intentions in mind everyday when she comes to work.”

Pawliw added she is one of many professionals working together to engage students and provide meaningful rich learning experiences every day within the school division. She said she hopes that people are happy with what she and the other teachers are doing.
