Perry Bellegarde likely to run for AFN national chief

Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations Chief Perry Bellegarde is looking to switch spots.

It appears that Bellegarde will be joining the race for Assembly of First Nations national chief.

The national chief spot became open after Shawn Atleo resigned in May. 

Bellegarde has launched a website to collect political donations and the official announcement is expected Wednesday.

Bellegarde ran for national chief in the last election in 2009 but conceded to Atleo.
