Owner ‘fabricated’ story of cats thrown from moving vehicle

Sep 23, 2014 | 2:07 PM

It’s a story that was made up.

On Monday afternoon, a person brought in seven cats to the Prince Albert SPCA claiming they were thrown from a moving vehicle near Holbein late Sunday night. They said the cats were stuffed into a garbage bag, along with two others that he said didn’t survive.

The SPCA posted this on Facebook, asking for to help locate the cats’ owner—this resulted in almost 200 shares and more than 60 comments.

Some of the comments read “Awww poor babies. Throw those fricken people out a window of a moving car! Jerks! Very sad …” and “I can't believe someone could be so cruel! This upsets me so much!!! So heart broken, look at those cute innocent faces. Nothing makes me more angry than hearing stuff like this happening. I shared and I hope the person is caught, put in a garbage bag and throw out a truck! Argh!!”

However, the following day, the SPCA said the person returned to the facility, this time with a different story.

“We have received information that these cats were not thrown out of the vehicle but were brought in by the owner who fabricated the story,” the SPCA wrote on its Facebook page.

After only 30 minutes up on the page, several people have left comments disturbed with the lie.

“Absolutely twisted in the head. I hope all of those kitties find forever homes soon,” wrote one woman.

Even with this confession, the cats are not being returned to the owner. The SPCA said the animals will be spayed/neutered and put up for adoptions after they have been medically cleared.

For information about the cats or other animals available for adoption visit the SPCA.
