Saskatoon man faces new child porn charges

Sep 18, 2014 | 2:17 PM

The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) has arrested a Saskatoon man on new child porn charges after gaining access to encrypted computer files.

Justin Gerard Gryba, 25, was previously charged in February 2012 for child pornography related offences. He pleaded guilty to those charges and was sentenced to two years in jail. He was released earlier this year after serving his custodial sentence. During the initial investigation, police seized multiple computers. Gryba refused to provide passwords for some of the devices, which were encrypted.

It took two-and-half years for the ICE's forensic technician units in Saskatoon and Ottawa to gain access.

The contents on the computers led RCMP to lay the new charges. The victims in this investigation have been identified and the families have been notified.
