New zip lining course planned near Waskesiu

Next summer, you can see part of northern Saskatchewan in a completely new way with a zip lining course planned for Elk Ridge Resort near Waskesiu.

“Construction has begun. Poles are up and most of the zips are run,” Jori Kirk, president and CEO of Eco-Adventures, said.

This is an expansion of Kirk's business which has already built a zip lining adventure park in Cypress Hills. The new one will be even bigger.

“It's basically double the length of what Cypress Hills is,” he said, adding the last line will be a double line where two people can go down side-by-side.

The Elk Ridge Eco-Adventures course will include seven zip lines and two sky bridges that will take people over birch, aspen and pine trees, ponds and swamps and even give a couple good views of the golf course.

Kirk said Cypress Hills and this new location, about five minutes from Waskesiu, were natural choices for his business.

“They're really kind of the two premier travel destinations in Saskatchewan in my opinion,” Kirk said.

Kirk hopes to have the new zip lining park open and operational at the Elk Ridge Resort by next June. He will start looking for employees at the beginning of October.

“This new site will probably create around 20 seasonal jobs.”

While the new zip line park is top of mind at the moment, Kirk emphasized Cypress Hills will continue to be a priority.

“Cypress Hills was just an awesome place to start and I'm so, so proud of what we've done down here,” Kirk said.
