Sep 5, 2014 | 11:40 AM

An inquest into the death of Douglas Morissette will begin on Monday to determine how he died in a Saskatoon police detention cell.

The 57-year-old was picked up for public intoxication on Jan. 15 2013, according to police.

Staff allegedly checked on Morissette throughout the night, but he was found dead the next morning.

The inquest will try to determine what happened and whether a similar death can be prevented in the future. It will be held at the Sandman Hotel in Saskatoon from Sept. 8 to 12.
