Birch Hills asking residents to boil drinking water
The Town of Birch Hills issued a precautionary drinking water advisory on Tuesday and is now asking residents to boil their tap water before consuming it.
Members of the town’s council, administration and public works met with a representative from the Water Security Agency in the morning to discuss the latest water problems in Birch Hills.
In a statement signed by mayor and council, a water advisory was put into immediate effect because of a “spike” in water turbidity – or cloudiness of the water because of particles in it — caused by high algae bloom.
“An immediate short-term process plan, moving forwards with their long-term plan, will enable the town to set up preventative issues such as this in the future.”
