Saskatchewan actor returns to small role on Corner Gas: the Movie

Josh Strait couldn't stop smiling on his first day back at work at 'the Ruby' in Dog River.

After appearing in about 99 episodes of the show, Strait is returning to his role as Josh the Cook on Corner Gas: The Movie. The Saskatchewan actor says some traditions from filming the TV show have remained.

“After every take Fred, the guy who plays the character Hank- you're almost guaranteed that there's going to be a joke coming out of his mouth”

When he's not working in the kitchen at the Ruby, Strait is giving tours to fans of the show with Eco-Party Adventures. The Corner Gas tour gives a behind-the-scenes look at the sets in Rouleau and at the Regina sound stage.

Strait also guided the tour during the last three seasons of Corner Gas. When face to face with fans he says he was shocked to see how much people were attached to the show.

“Constantly people would be yelling out my name… it took a while to get used to just like, they all knew Josh the cook so I had to get to know them.”

With one Corner Gas movie almost finished shooting, can fans expect to see another film in the future?

“I can see thousands of spin-offs. I can even see a movie about Josh the Cook. It all depends on Brent and depends on the fans and how much they want,” he joked in speculation.

Until Corner Gas: The Movie 2 is green-lighted, Strait continues to act in local productions. Most recently, he had a role in the Saskatchewan-made Wolf Cop
