Prince Albert man places top bid for Snakebit

Jan 17, 2014 | 10:54 PM

Gord Broda's wallet is a bit lighter following a big night in Scottsdale, Arizona.

His bid of $450,000 USD., at the Barrett Jackson Auction, was enough to claim the Snakebit, a 1956 Ford F-100 pickup truck.

The money will go to benefit the Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan.

This was the first time a vehicle was auctioned at the Barrett Jackson Auction for a Canadian Charity.

The classic vehicle was put up for auction thanks to KISS bassist Gene Simmons and his wife, Shannon Tweed, who is originally from Saskatoon.

Premier Brad Wall was also in attendance at the auction Friday night.

Broda is a successful businessman from Prince Albert, who last year offered a $1.5 million line of credit to the Prince Albert Raiders in case the organization needed it.

For gearheads interested in what Broda gets under the hood of the sleek truck, it's a Ford Racing supercharged 5.4-litre V8. A six-speed manual gearbox feeds the estimated 550 horsepower to the 20-inch rear wheels.
