Healing lodge to open on Wahpeton: Chief
The healing lodge on Wahpeton Dakota First Nation is set to open as a 12-bed facility, Chief Leo Omani said on Friday.
He said the Spiritual Healing Lodge had been closed for a year. The First Nation had been negotiating with the province and federal government for the healing lodge, which is located near the Prince Albert Airport.
Omani made the announcement during Friday’s media conference about the launch of a new Cold Weather Shelter program in Prince Albert.
Omani said the inmates housed at the healing lodge were moved back to federal and provincial facilities.
