VIDEO/PHOTOS:Demolition of Suzy Cue’s underway

Dec 2, 2013 | 5:11 AM

Construction crews are currently tearing down Suzy Cue’s.

The work began at 8 a.m. on Monday at the back of the building and is expected to wrap up by the end of the day Tuesday.

The city approved plans to raze the building at the end of October. The property was purchased by the neighbouring Venice House, to convert the land into a parking lot for the restaurant.

During the demolition, the westbound lanes of 15th Street East, from Central Avenue to First Avenue East will be closed. Two-way traffic will flow through the eastbound lanes through that stretch of road.

The bus transfer terminal station on 14th Street East will also be affected. It will be partially closed and the All-Day Express bus won’t be able to pick up passengers at its usual spot.

The city’s also warning passers-by to steer clear of the site to avoid any falling debris.

Editor's Note: The construction crews were hired by the owner of Venice House and the City of Prince Albert issued the demolition permit and closed down the lanes.
