Local artist receives Governor General’s History Award

Prince Albert artist Catherine Blackburn was in the nation’s capital on Tuesday morning to receive a Governor General’s History Award.
Blackburn was at Rideau Hall in Ottawa to receive the award for Senior Arts Category of Historica Canada’s the Aboriginal Arts and Stories.
The 28-year-old artist was recognized for her piece entitled ‘Grandma.’
She was among the many who received their national honours from Gov. Gen. David Johnston.
